Admissions Process: Applying to CANDEL

 Logos2 PLEASE NOTE: FALL 2009 Application Deadline is Friday, February 6th, 2009! **NEW DATE NEW DATE NEW DATE NEW DATE NEW DATE NEW**The Online Application will be available MONDAY, September 15th, 2008  Please read the entire checklist before going to the online application. This will be the one and only application to complete.  We strongly suggest reviewing the UC Davis Graduate Studies Admissions Page: http://graduatestudies.ucdavis.edu/prospective/admissions_application.html

  1. The online application (won't be available until September 15th, 2008): when you first go to the application online, you will be asked to create an Embark Account - (Embark is the UC application program) - you can save your information as you go along, and you can sign-out and log back in at your convenience.
  2. Official transcripts of all colleges and universities attended are required and must be sent directly to the CANDEL Program Coordinator - see address below.
  3. Three letters of recommendations are required.  Your letter writers will be contacted via email prompting them to submit and upload their letters to your Embark Account.  It is recommended that you notify your letter writers before you apply.
  4. Current (no older than 5 years old) GRE or MAT scores are required. You will need to enter your scores on the application. Both tests are now offered at testing sites and you must register online.  The GRE measures reasoning, critical thinking and analytical writing skills.  The MAT (Miller Analogies Test) requires the solution of problems presented as analogies.  Please review both websites to decide which one is right for you. When you go to take your test, you will need to indicate the Institutional Code and Department Code for your scores to be sent directly to the CANDEL Program Coordinator - see address below.  Institutional Code No: 4834  Department Code: 3101 
  5. A résumé is required, and can be copied and pasted into the online application.
  6. Statement of Employer Support is required to acknowledge your absence every third or fourth Friday from work.  This letter also needs to be sent directly to the CANDEL Program Coordinator.
